S7 engines

For years, Audi has used turbocharging in its winning racecars. That know-how has trickled down to road engines in a big way with the 4.0-liter TFSI® engine used in the Audi S7.

Featuring two turbochargers nestled between the cylinder-banks ‘inside the V’ and paired with an enhanced Audi valvelift system that improves exhaust gas flow to the turbocharges which helps enhance throttle response, this rumbling engine delivers 420 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, both accessible over a broad range of engine speeds. And for the times you don’t need 420 horsepower to cruise at a relaxed speed, nor do you need eight turbocharged cylinders. At these moments, the 4.0-liter TFSI® engine in the Audi S7 has been designed to shut down four of the eight cylinders essentially running as a V4 engine.
